Summary:
The story of this manga is about a hopeless romantic girl named Izawa Riko, a NBSB (no boyfriend since birth) high school girl and got recently rejected by a boy she had a crush on. On one special day, she met Namikiri Gaku, a strange salesman who told her to visit their company's website (Kronos Heaven) to find her perfect boyfriend she always wanted. She thought of it as a dating game, customized her personal lover and accidentally placed an order from this website. The next day, her perfect lover arrived. She was left dumbfounded as she needs to pay ¥100,000,000 for her to keep the man she called "Night". Gaku makes a deal with her to waive the debt in exchange of her helping the company to gather details on what women think on dating for their future models.
As the story progresses, Night slowly develops real emotion and Riiko finds herself falling in love with him despite the fact that he's not a human. On the other hand, Soushi, her childhood friend confessed his feelings for her. Torn between her feelings for Night and her feelings for Soshi, Riiko must choose which one she truly loves. As Night's emotions starts to develop, his systems starts to malfunctions making him tired and sleepy. He knows he won't last long but didn't want Riiko to worry. Riiko realized that she truly loved Night and told this to Soushi, who gives way and moved overseas to be with his family. Night and Riiko decided to make more happy memories together until Night's system shut down. Before his death, he already entrusted his last words and ring to Soushi, telling him what was happening to him and tells Soshi to come back for Riiko after his death. On his letter, he told Riiko to always smile and move on from him.
Absolute Boyfriend is created by Yuu Watase, the same creator of popular manga/anime Fushigi Yuugi. With romantic comedy theme, it will surely get the attention of one girl's fantasy.
The Characters
If you have seen Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres (Ceres Celestial Legend), you will definitely see the similarities on art and character design. When you see Night, you will definitely think of Tamahome. Riiko's character depicts what a high schooler thinks of love.
Audience
Absolute Boyfriend is suited for younger audience (teens). Although throughout the 6 volumes, there are scenes where Riiko and Night tried to make love and there's mild nudity. It also has light comedic scenes which will surely enjoy by the reader.
